About UNATT

 

UNATT was officially launched on United Nations Day, 24 October 1996, in Trinidad by a Steering Committee, whose members saw the need to highlight development issues and to bring the work of the United Nations to the wider community.  It has been an active member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) since 2001.

Mission

The mission of UNATT is to promote the the full participation of all peoples in the pursuit of human progress by complementing and supporting the efforts of the United Nations system through the dissemination of information to increase public awareness and understanding of its work and achievements, and to be a catalyst for the implementation of the UN charter.

Aims

  • To spread knowledge of the activities of and win support for the United Nations organisation and its agencies in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean;

  • organise and assist in projects directed to serve the promotion and

  • maintenance of peace and respect for human rights;

  • further education and enlightenment of the peoples of Trinidad and Tobago and the West Indies for the improvement of international understanding and co-operation;

  • assist in the formation of the UNAs in the Caribbean; and,

  • serve as a medium of communication between other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the UN and its specialised agencies.

Constitution

The UNATT constitution guides the activities of the organisation.
